The 4th Toshali Literature Festival wrapped up in Bhubaneswar, hosted by the Udaygiri Foundation. The two-day event at Ranch Resort brought together literary enthusiasts, scholars, and poets to celebrate literary excellence.
The highlight was the Jayanta Mahapatra National Award for Literature 2026, awarded to poet Robin S. Ngangom for his contributions to Indian English poetry. Festival Director Paresh Kumar Patnaik welcomed dignitaries, including Dr. Pratibha Ray, Haraprasad Das, and Dr. K.V. Dominic.
Keynote speakers challenged writers to explore India’s indigenous storytelling traditions and amplify marginalized voices. Sessions covered climate change, AI poetry, and more. Over 150 participants joined discussions and poetry readings.
New books launched included Unbridled by Divya K. Unni and Architects of Odisha by Sambit Dash. A documentary on Jayanta Mahapatra’s life was screened. The event ended with a pledge to foster literary dialogue in Odisha.
