EDMONTON — The Canadian Kerala Cultural Association of Alberta (CKCAA) marked its milestone 50th anniversary during its annual Spring Festival on May 23 at the OTS Hall, drawing several hundred attendees from across the region.

The celebration highlighted youth talent within the Malayalee community and introduced a new annual tradition honoring top-tier student performance.

Historic Milestone:
As Alberta’s first Malayalee association, CKCAA officially commenced its 50th year of cultural programming and community advocacy.

Inaugural Award:
The organization debuted the Lakewood Pharmacy Academic Excellence Award, presented to the CKCAA-member student with the highest score on the 2024–2025 Alberta High School Diploma Examination. Community Turnout:

The venue reached capacity with hundreds of local families gathering to support the youth performances.According to CKCAA Secretary Grace Antony, the newly established academic prize will remain a permanent fixture of future Spring Festivals to foster ongoing academic success.
